overview.
Mnemo is an AI-powered memory and daily support system designed for seniors experiencing early cognitive decline. It supports everyday recall, safety, and independence through subtle AR-glasses and real-time AI assistance.

project brief.
the problem.
Seniors experiencing early cognitive decline often struggle to recall important people, events, and daily tasks. This ongoing cognitive friction disrupts their independence and begins to affect their sense of identity and personal safety.

research insight.

benchmark analysis.
We reviewed existing assistive technologies from smart glasses to AI-powered photo tools to understand how current products support memory, recognition, and daily recall. This comparison helped us identify key limitations. These gaps shaped Mnemo’s direction: a subtle, wearable system focused on dependable memory support and a dignified experience for seniors.

final design.

Mnemo is a memory-support system that pairs an AI- powered app with AR glasses. For seniors experiencing early memory decline or dementia, it quietly records moments throughout the day, organizes them with AI, and makes them easy to search and recall. It supports their independence while giving caregivers peace of mind.
Your Personalized Setup
While onboarding, Mnemo gathers only what’s essential to personalize the experience for seniors and their caregivers. The flow guides them through simple steps — choosing who is setting up the app, sharing basic personal details, identifying caregivers, and scanning important medications. This setup ensures Mnemo can deliver accurate reminders, safe sharing options, and context-aware memory support from day one.
Daily Overview
The dashboard gives seniors an overview of their day. Reminders, meds, new memories, and caregiver updates sit together in one place. Tapping a reminder opens the full daily timeline — completed tasks are marked, upcoming ones stay unfilled, making the day easy to follow at a glance. From the dashboard, recent memory can be expanded into a clear summary with photos and context, helping users instantly recall what happened.
Voice-Led Memory Search
Search feature allows users to ask natural, conversational questions and instantly retrieve the right moment. Users can browse memories by category or filter by date and time. NLP interprets their voice input, understands intent, and returns the most relevant memory. From the results, users can open any memory, review AI-generated summaries, and share it instantly with caregivers or family members for reassurance.
Sharing Made Simple
Mnemo lets users share important memories with the people who support them most. On the Share screen, users see their contact list, along with recently shared moments and suggestions for memories they may want to send. Tapping any memory opens a detailed view, where they can quickly choose a contact and share with one tap. A confirmation screen clearly shows who received the memory, reinforcing safety, transparency, and user control.
Profile & Setting
The Profile screen gives users a clear overview of their devices and personal settings. When the device panel is expanded, users can see every connected device — their Mnemo glasses. Expanding the daily summary shows a simple status message, while the Insights panel highlights memory trends over time such as whether recall patterns are improving. From the settings menu, users can personalize accessibility options to fit their needs, like text sixes, and other supportive features that keep the experience comfortable and safe.

outcome.
Mnemo became a fully realized concept: an AI-powered memory support system paired with AR glasses, designed specifically for older adults navigating early cognitive decline. Our team delivered a complete user journey — from onboarding and daily dashboards to search, sharing, and caregiver integration — all built around clarity, dignity, and accessibility. The final design shows how automation and wearable technology can genuinely reduce cognitive load and help seniors stay independent while keeping caregivers informed.
what it taught me.
Working on this project taught me how different collaborative design becomes when the target users have very specific needs. Our group had to constantly remind ourselves that we were designing for seniors with memory challenges, not for people like us — and that shift alone changed countless decisions around interaction patterns, visual hierarchy, and complexity. It also reinforced how important communication is in group projects. Everyone brought different ideas, methods, and assumptions, so aligning our workflows, making decisions quickly, and staying flexible became just as important as the design itself. Even when parts felt challenging or uncertain, navigating that process together made the final outcome stronger.
